Business Mentoring Survey

SFEDI has recently produced a new set of Business Support standards that describe the abilities needed by business advisors and the like. Consideration is now being given to revising the standards for business mentoring. As well as asking about the specific abilities needed by mentors the following questionnaire also seeks your views on how this fits with the new general Business Support standards.

Please give your views on these issues through a short questionnaire. Your responses will be treated as confidential and will not be attributed to you in any project reports.

Question details

1. The standard seeks to describe the skills, knowledge and understanding, and behaviours required by business mentors. What do you think should be added, deleted or amended in the new draft of the business mentoring standard? (Required)

2. It has been suggested that the essential abilities required by all business mentors can be covered by a combination of the draft business mentoring standard and Unit 8 of the core Business Support standards.

5. It has been suggested that additional standards describe other things that may be done by business mentors. These may be especially relevant if a mentor is not receiving substantial support from an organisation they are working for.

The additional standards being considered are, Develop networks to provide access to information, Evaluate the quality of your own practice in business support, Develop your own ability to provide business support and Monitor the performance of the business support service.
